Nursery - Hedgehog
Welcome to Nursery - Hedgehog
In Nursery we love to learn, play and explore! We have lots of different areas that we can
investigate, discover, and problem solve. We love to play outside and we enjoy building,
playing in the mud kitchen and running around with our friends. We try our very best to be independent in everything that we do from putting on our own coats to building a castle from boxes.
Children in Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.
The curriculum is separated into seven areas of learning.
These are:
Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional, Physical Development,
Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design.

Teaching in nursery is organised through a range of approaches and provides a balance of child initiated and adult-led activities:
· Planned focused activities where staff work with a small group of children at a time. The activities are differentiated to meet the needs of every child.
· Whole class teaching for short periods of time such as shared storytime, direct teaching (for example of maths and phonics), songs and rhymes, discussions and sharing work.
· Opportunities for staff to work alongside children as they develop their own interests throughout the curriculum.
The Nursery EYFS team consists of:
Mrs Hillyer (Class Teacher) and Miss Moore (Teaching Assistant)
