Tag Rugby Tournament

Yesterday the Year 4 and 5 tag rugby team played in a tag rugby tournament against nine other schools from across Nuneaton. We finished 3rd overall after winning league 2 (which was the league we started in) and progressing to the semi-finals.

Our first match was against Saint Paul’s 1. By working well as a team we won the match 7-5 with Lewis, Nicky, Matthew and Charlie all scoring tries. After the match we found out that all the teams we had to play were year 6 players, but most of our team were year 4’s.

Our next match was against Saint Paul’s 2 because Saint Paul’s had 2 teams. We won 9-5 with some very good tries and we played some really good rugby. Mr Rathbone gave Charlie Young the nickname wiggly worm because he wormed around some opposing teams players.

Our next match was against Stockingford 2 and we thrashed them with the score 11-0. Nicholas and Lewis scored lots of tries.

We got into the semi-finals after winning our league. We were against Saint Josephs 2. We lost 6-4, but we could have won 4-2 because Saint Josephs 2 scored 3 tries offside and one try from a forward pass. We were dissapointed to lose in the semi-finals but know that we have a good chance of winning next year if we work hard with our training. Despite losing we still had a good time and were scored 4 tries. Overall we had a fantastic experience and can’t wait for our next game.
